Software services provider Cognizant has announced the appointment of Brian Humphries as its new chief executive officer and board member.
Humphries will replace co-founder and CEO Francisco D'Souza from Apr. 1, 2019, according to a media statement. D'Souza will serve as a full-time executive vice chairman to facilitate the transition till June 30, 2019. Following that, he will remain on the board as a vice chairman.
The company also announced that its President Rajeev Mehta will step down effective April 1, 2019. He will serve as an adviser to the new CEO till May 1, 2019.
Humphries, currently the chief executive officer of Vodafone Business, has been credited with growing the telecom operator's global enterprises business into areas like Internet of Things, cloud hosting, carrier services and security solutions.
"With a strong track record of success across different companies, cultures and roles, Brian is the right executive to lead Cognizant and build on its 25 years of growth, success and innovation," said Michael Patsalos-Fox, Cognizant's Board chairman, in the statement. "Brian is a broadly experienced technology executive with a proven track record of driving enterprise-wide transformation through focused execution, often in challenging and highly competitive market segments."
During his twelve years as Cognizant chief, D'Souza oversaw an over ten-fold growth in the IT firm's revenue. "While I have enjoyed serving as CEO, I believe this is the right time for me to step aside and for the company to name a new leader to build on the strong foundations we've created and take Cognizant into the future," D'Souza said in the statement. "I know Brian will help Cognizant deliver on its commitments to our clients and continue to build value for our shareholders."
