New Delhi: The government on Wednesday approved four-laning of six highways spread across five states including Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, having a total length of 712 km at a cost of Rs 12,646 crore.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved four-laning of two projects in the Ghaghra Bridge-Varanasi stretch in Uttar Pradesh with a total cost of Rs 2,295 crore.
The three packages approved for the Rewa-Katni-Jabalpur stretch in Madhya Pradesh would cost Rs 3,101 crore. Besides, Jabalpur-Lakhnadon stretch of the state would be four-laned for a cost of Rs 1,244 crore, an official statement said.
In Odisha, Baharagora-Singhara stretch would be developed into four-lanes for Rs 1,283 crore.
The 39-km stretch connecting Parwanoo and Shimla on the National Highway 22 would also be developed into four-lanes for Rs 1,247 crore.
Two packages on the Ghoshpukur-Salasbari stretch in West Bengal would also be developed at a total cost of Rs 3,476 crore.
All projects would be developed through engineering, procurement and construction mode under the National Highways Development Project, it said.
