Inox Leisure Ltd. may see its highest footfall today as frenzied fans throng movie theatres to watch Avengers: Endgame, according to its Chief Executive Officer Alok Tandon.

“Most of the shows were sold within a few hours of opening...this could also be more than the footfall we had for Baahubali: The Conclusion on the first day,” Tandon told BloombergQuint, adding that the film is witnessing exceeding demand in all languages and versions. “This is history in making.” Baahubali: The Conclusion had grossed Rs 246 crore in its first week, the highest for an Indian film, according to Box Office India.

Movie halls are running shows round the clock to meet unprecedented demand.

What After Avengers?

Tandon said he is bullish on financial year 2019-20, thanks to the “great movie lineup” including Brahmastra, Spiderman, Student of the Year 2 and Aladdin, among others.

The country's second-largest multiplex chain expects the footfall to remain steady in FY20, and is said to thrust on advertising and food and beverages through the year.

Inox is on track to add more screens, Tandon said, adding that the company had opened 85 screens last year and 4 screen in the month of April this year.

The new MX4D theatres, launched today, will bring a more evolved and immersive cinema viewing experience, Tandon said, adding that he does not expect a push back from customers due to the high prices of MX4D tickets. “Technology comes at a cost.”
