Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.'s auto segment posted an overall sales of 45,640 units in April, registering a growth of 25% over the same period last year even as the company continue to closely monitor the chip shortage related parts crunch.
The sales, however, declined 16.4% over the preceding month.
M&M's total passenger vehicle sales too rose 23% over the same period last year to 22,526 units on the back of strong demand of its new launches.
The company said while demand across its products continues to be robust with strong booking numbers and pipeline, it is facing a number of supply chain challenges due to lockdown in China.
"We continue monitoring the developments closely and will take corrective action as appropriate," Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division at M&M Ltd., said
The farm equipment segment also rose 49% over the same period last year to 40,939 units.
