Apple opened its first two stores in India—in Delhi and Mumbai—in April 2023.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook had earlier noted that the company achieved record quarterly sales in India in the October-December period of 2024. During this time, the iPhone became the top-selling smartphone in the country.

Cook had said that India is the second largest smartphone market in the world, and the third largest for personal computers and tablets. This provides an opportunity for Apple to make further inroads in the Indian market.
