(Bloomberg) -- The Asian e-commerce platform Lazada Group said an arm of the company was hacked, exposing customer data including names, phone numbers, encrypted passwords and partial credit card numbers.
Lazada, part of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., said the breach was discovered Oct. 29 and involved a database of its RedMart online supermarket site, which was hosted by a third-party service provider, according to a company statement.
The customer data, used on the previous RedMart app and website, was more than 18 months out of date and last updated in March 2019. Singapore-based Lazada said it has taken action to block unauthorized access to the database.
Lazada customer data in Southeast Asia wasn't affect, the company said.
The Singapore news outlet CNA reported that 1.1. million accounts had been hacked.
