Adani Green Energy Ltd. on Monday reiterated that there are no allegations made against the company in the US Department of Justice's indictment in November. The statement came after reports claimed that representatives of Gautam Adani, the chief of the ports-to-power conglomerate, met Trump administration officials regarding the matter.
"... there is no allegations made against the Company in the matter and the Company is not a party to any such proceedings," Adani Green said in an exchange filing.
Bloomberg reported that Adani representatives met US officials to seek dismissal of criminal charges in an alleged bribery probe, with a resolution possible in a month.
The allegations, made public in November last year, include charges of corruption and bribery against senior company officials. It is based on the indictment filed by the US DoJ and a civil complaint by the Securities and Exchange Commission. These charges involve accusations of illegal financial dealings to secure government contracts in India.
The Adani Group has firmly rejected allegations made by the DoJ and SEC against its directors, describing them as "baseless" and categorically denying any wrongdoing.
In response to the charges brought against Adani Green Energy and its directors in November, the conglomerate had issued a statement soon after, emphasising that as per the DOJ's own statements, "the charges in the indictment are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."
The group further assured stakeholders that it would pursue all available legal recourse to address these accusations.
