Bombay House, the Tata Group's iconic headquarters in Mumbai, reopened after nine months of renovation in what Chairman N Chandrasekaran called a modern and informal avatar.

It will encourage more interactivity and has the best technology and security features, Chandrasekaran said at the reopening ceremony. “The whole idea is to get people to interact more, and you will see that in the way the workstations have been built.”

Chandrasekaran, named chairman of the group's parent Tata Son Ltd. 17 months ago, said the technology deployed in the building is the best in the world. “We have looked at every new technology in every modern company and we have integrated it very seamlessly.”

The nearly century-old building reopened on 114th birthday of industrialist JRD Tata and in the presence of former Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata. He applauded Chandrasekaran for being “bold enough to make this happen”.
