Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda in the Railway Budget proposed introduction of setting up a Diamond Quadrilateral network of high-speed trains connecting major metros and growth centers. He also proposed first bullet train in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route.
In this regard, he proposed allocation of Rs 100 crore a diamond quadrilateral project connecting major metropolitan cities. Mr Gowda said that majority of the funding for building bullet train infrastructure will be financed through public-private partnerships.
He also proposed foreign direct investment in building railway infrastructure.
