(Bloomberg) -- Roger Federer will play his last ATP event next week in London, at the Laver Cup, he announced via Twitter on Thursday.
Federer holds the most grand slam wins at the Wimbledon tournament, totaling eight. The last time he played an ATP event was at the 2021 Championships where he lost in the quarter finals.
Federer, 41 years old, says he knows his body's “capacities and limits” as he has been riddled with injuries and surgeries the last three years.
“Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt, and now I must recognize when it is time to end my competitive career,” he added in the same statement.
