Auto Sales In February 2025 LIVE: Tata Motors Down 9%, Maruti Suzuki Up 1%

Maruti Suzuki to Mahindra and Bajaj Auto, India's top OEMs are reporting their auto sales in February 2025. Here's a look at who sold how much in the month gone by.

TVS Motor Co. Ltd. saw its monthly sales grow by a tenth last month due to two-wheeler exports that surged to a record high.

Total sales of the Apache maker rose 10% year-on-year to 4,03,976 units as against 368,424 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Saturday. In the breadwinner two-wheeler segment, while domestic sales increased by 3% year-on-year to 2,76,072 units, their exports surged 28% to 1,15,817 units.

But the EV division grew still faster.

A total of 24,017 electric two- and three-wheelers were sold last month, as against 17,959 units in the year-ago period---a growth of 34% year-on-year.

SML Isuzu Ltd. saw its monthly sales grow by more than a fourth in February on increased demand for both its passenger and cargo vehicles.

The maker of the D-Max pickup truck sold a total of 1,288 units last month as against 1,010 units in the year-ago period—a growth of 27.5% year-on-year, according to an exchange filing on Saturday.

Nearly two-thirds (820 units) of the sales are for passenger vehicles and the rest (468 units) for hauling cargo.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. saw a marginal rise in domestic sales last month but exports fell.

Domestic sales of the Grand Vitara maker rose 1% year-on-year 1,99,400 units in February 2025, as against 1,97,471 units in the year-ago period, according to an exhange filing on Saturday. Exports stood at 25,021units versus 28,927 units in the same month last year.

Tata Motors Ltd. sold fewer cars as compared to a year-ago in February 2025, as demand for its electric vehicles dwindled by nearly a fourth.

Domestic sales of the Nexon maker fell 9% year-on-year to 46,435 units last month, as against 51,267 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Saturday. EV sales fell 23% year-on-year to 5,343 units.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor India Ltd. sustained its sales momentum in Febuary 2025 on the back of "SUV-fication" of India's car market.

Total sales of the India unit of Toyota Motor Co. rose 13% year-on-year to 28,414 units units last month, as against 25,220 units in the year-ago period, according to a company statement released on Saturday.

That includes 26,414 units sold in India and 2,000 units shipped abroad.

"MPVs and SUVs continue to be the primary growth drivers, contributing 68% to overall sales," Varinder Wadhwa, vice president of the company's sales-service-used car business said in the statement. "Meanwhile, models from the small car segment are playing a significantly role by contributing to 28% of the month’s sales."

Toyota sells six SUVs, four MPVs and two cars in India. That includes the recently launched Toyota Camry sedan and the Land Cruiser 300, bookings for which have been reopened.

Escorts Kubota Ltd. saw its tractor sales rise in February 2025, indicating that the revival in India's rural economy is sustaining.

Total tractor sales rose 11.4% year-on-year to 8,590 units last month, as against 7,709 units in the year-ago period, according to an exchange filing on Saturday. That includes domestic sales of 7,968 units (up 9.6% year-on-year) and exports of 622 units (up 41.4% year-on-year).

"While the demand from our stronger markets was good, the western region saw some pressure due to lower crop prices impacting liquidity," the company stated in the exchange filing. "Going forward, with increased Rabi sowing, good water reservoir levels and favourable base effect, we anticipate growth momentum to continue in coming months."
