Nifty 50| Sensex| Stock Market Today: Nifty, Sensex Fall Sharply On Profit Booking
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex fell sharply as HDFC Bank Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd. shares dragged. Traders booked profit after four-day rally before the weekend start, analysts said.
The indices were trading 0.43% and 0.46% down, respectively as of 10:17 a.m
Markets have seen technical good rally in last 10-15 days. All the good news including US Federal Reserve's rate cut and GST rate cuts are behind. So, profit taking is happening at around the levels of 25,400, according to Prashanth Tapse, a senior vice president, ,research), Mehta Equities Ltd.
"Nifty index is witnessing a minor profit taking ahead of weekend. Overall this is a buy on dip market till Nifty index is trading above 25050 spot levels on closing basis and expect it to test 25500-25600 spot levels in the near term," said Vipin Kumar, assistant vice president, technical and derivatives, research at Globe Capital Market Ltd.

Paytm's parent One 97 Communications Ltd. share price recovered from opening lows as BofA raised the target price. The US-headquartered brokerage firm believes that the business momentum is stable and there is more room to cut costs.
One 97 Communications share price fell 0.36% to Rs 1,224.9 apiece shortly after open. However, the stock price erased losses to trade flat at Rs 1,229 apiece as of 9:44 a.m., compared to 0.33% decline in the NSE Nifty 50 index.
Sectoral Performance At Open: Nifty Energy Outperforms
On National Stock Exchange, eight sectoral indices advanced, two remained flat, and five declined out of 15.
Nifty Contributors: Adani Ports And SEZ, Adani Enterprise Contribute Most
Adani Enterprise Ltd., Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd., Shriram Finance Ltd., Larsen & Toubro Ltd., and Jio Financial Services added to the NSE Nifty 50 index.
ICICI Bank Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Bharti Airtel Ltd. weighed on the NSE Nifty 50 index.

India's Direct Tax Collections Jump 9.18% To Rs 10.8 Lakh Crore Over Fewer Refunds
Net direct tax collections for the financial year 2025-26, as of September 17, 2025, have shown a notable increase, rising by 9.18% to reach over Rs 10.82 lakh crore or $131 billion.

Nvidia Corp. agreed to invest $5 billion in Intel Corp. and said the two will co-develop chips for PCs and data centers, a surprise move to help prop up an ailing archrival that sent Intel shares soaring, Bloomberg reported.
Nvidia will buy Intel common stock at $23.28 per share, the two companies said on Thursday. Intel will use Nvidia’s graphics technology in upcoming personal computer chips and also provide its processors for data center products built around Nvidia hardware, as per Bloomberg.
