Amid the ongoing US‑Israel‑Iran war, Iran has dialled up its online trolling of Washington, firing off a string of sarcastic and tongue‑in‑cheek posts from official embassy accounts that take dig at US President Donald Trump statements or their stance. The Iran Embassy X account has indulged a not‑so‑subtle exercise in mockery.
In one post, the Iranian mission in Finland responded to US comments about the Strait of Hormuz, saying the waterway remained open but warning that access could be affected by "the level of hostility". The post also criticised the tone of recent US messaging, suggesting it showed a lack of professionalism on social media.

The Strait of Hormuz remains open, though access can be influenced by the level of hostility.
It may be prudent to diversify updates and not to rely on those from newly appointed military Generals before making public statements on such sensitive… pic.twitter.com/I3BC3FonDl
Other posts were more openly derisive. Iran's embassy in Zimbabwe posted a brief message aimed at former US President Donald Trump, reading, "Trump, please talk. We are bored," open taking potshot of his Trumps which social media users claim to be 'unhinged'.

The Iranian mission in Nigeria mocked reports of a downed US aircraft, writing, "This wasn't an F‑35… it was American pride that crashed," followed by emojis.
This wasn't an F-35… it was American pride that crashed. Read it as: “Oooof 35” 😁✌️ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ pic.twitter.com/Xakg8UQ1T1

Iran's embassy in South Africa shared a fictional exchange involving several countries disputing Trump's claim that the Strait of Hormuz had been closed, ending with a frustrated response attributed to the former US president.
Trump: "Open the Strait of Hormuz!"

India: "Is it closed?"
Pakistan: "Closed?"
Russia: "Strange…"
South Africa: "but it's Open, of course"
France: "Doesn't look like it…"
China: "Open… we just passed through! 🚢😏"
Trump: 🙁 https://t.co/vnNc1EQy54
On Easter Sunday morning, Trump surprised both friends and detractors with a profane social media post warning Iran that it will be "living in Hell" if it did not open the Strait of Hormuz, drawing calls for dialling back the rhetoric. "Open the F****n' Strait, you crazy b******s, or you'll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah," Trump said in a post on Truth Social, hours after the US armed forces carried out a daring operation to rescue a missing crew member of a fighter jet shot down inside Iran.
After his post, the Iranian Embassy in Zimbabwe wrote simply, "We've lost the keys," a clear dig at Trump's demand to "open" the Strait of Hormuz, despite repeated assertions by Iran that the strategic waterway remains operational. In a similar tone, the Embassy of Iran in Bulgaria urged restraint in a post that read, "Take it easy, tiger. Keep your cool," after Trump hollered on his Easter Sunday post on Truth Social.
