Speaking at the House GOP Dinner, US President Donald Trump called for a more tariff based system to make America richer again. Bringing up the Great Tariff Commission, Trump said that scraping income tax and imposing tariffs makes sense. Trump talked about making America rich again, by adopting this strategy to do it quickly.

"America is going to be very rich again and its going to happen very quickly. Its time to go back to the system which made us richer and more powerful than ever before," said Trump.

He highlighted how the system had been in the past and that there was a massive amount of income that had come in from the tariff systems. Trump also talked about a time in the past where the citizens of America were not taxed as well.

"We had no income tax. The income tax came in 1913. As I said in my speech last week, instead of taxing our citizens to enrich foreign nations, we should be tariffing and taxing foreign nations to enrich our citizens," he said.

"You know, 1870 to 1913 was the richest period in the history of United States. Then they set up the Great Tariff Commission and they had one function, what to do with all the money we took in, it was so enormous," he said. Trump called for a pivot in strategy and more focus on the incoming tariffs rather than tax paid by American citizens.

Addressing the House Republicans, President Trump spoke about investing more money in the border security system as well. The Trump 2.0 government will broadly be focused on illegal immigration. There are strong and swift moves that are already lined up to execute the stance as well. Trump said he would push the US Congress to approve legislation requiring strict border security measures as well.
