Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with US President Donald Trump to discuss ending the Russian invasion.
"Ukraine once again confirms that it is ready to work productively to achieve peace," Zelensky said in a post on X, adding, "We support President Trump’s proposal to hold a trilateral meeting of Ukraine-US-Russia."

US President Donald Trump greeted Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, ahead of their summit.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov were part of the delegations at the summit.
According to an NBC report, Vladimir Putin said an agreement reached with Donald Trump, if any, would "pave the path toward peace in Ukraine."
NBC also reported that Putin thanked Trump for the meeting and agreed with his statement that the war with Ukraine would not have started in 2022 if Trump had been US president.
After Trump concluded his remarks, Putin said "Next time in Moscow" in English, to which Trump responded that he could see it "possibly happening."
According to NBC, the press event was brief, lasting approximately 12 minutes. Both leaders offered few details and did not clarify any agreement reached. They walked offstage without taking questions from reporters.
Putin's plane has departed Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.

Trump said after the summit that a meeting would be set up between Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and himself to discuss next steps and a potential ceasefire, according to Fox News report.
While enroute Washington, D.C., Trump told Fox News that it is "really up to President Zelensky to get it done," and that both leaders want him to be at the meeting.

Vladimir Putin, Russia and Ukraine will set up a meeting to discuss next steps and a potential ceasefire, Fox News reported quoting Trump as saying, shortly after the summit ended.
"They’re going to set up a meeting now, between President Zelensky and President Putin and myself, I guess," Trump told Fox news, without providing details or timing for the meeting.
He added that it is “really up to President Zelensky to get it done,” saying, "we have a pretty good chance of getting it done." When asked if his presence at the meeting was discussed,
Trump said: "Yeah, it did. I mean, they both want me there, and I’ll be there."
