Indonesia’s Bali airport saw at least two dozen flights canceled on Monday following the eruption of nearby Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano in the eastern part of the country.
Jetstar Airways and Virgin Australia canceled several Australia flights, while AirAsia Indonesia two domestic flights, according to airport General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab in a statement. Additional delays were reported by Qantas Airways and Air Busan, he added.
Flight disruptions due to volcanic eruptions are a common occurrence in Indonesia, which sits in a volcanically active region in the Pacific. Last month, dozens of Bali flights were canceled after the same volcano erupted, with flights resuming the following day.
