iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max Can Get This Major Camera Upgrade That Content Producers Will Love
Content producers on sites like YouTube and TikTok would particularly benefit from the dual video recording feature in the Camera app.

This year's iPhone 17 Pro models are tipped to get a rather significant camera update as part of iOS 19: dual video recording.
A video by YouTube channel Front Page Tech Renders, which purportedly showed the massive redesign for the upcoming iOS 19, also dropped new camera capabilities for the Pro models. Dual video recording, a new feature that could be packed in the iPhone 17 Pro models launching later this year, was mentioned at the end of the video.
Jon Prosser, host of Front Page Tech, claimed that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will enable simultaneous use of the front and rear cameras for video recording. Previously available through a few apps on the App Store, including Snapchat, this feature will apparently be accessible through the integrated Camera app.
Content producers on sites like YouTube and TikTok would particularly benefit from the dual video recording feature in the Camera app. This would make it simple for them to superimpose their facial shot (showing them talking, commenting, and reacting) over a world-facing video, offering dual perspectives to the viewers at the same time.
The iPhone 17 Pro variants are also rumoured to get a revamped camera array that spans the width of the phone, as per renders and leaks over the past few months. However, a dual-toned design with the camera bump slightly darker than the body — a widely speculated update — may not materialise after all, as recently indicated by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. Gurman noted that "the camera area will be the same colour as the rest of the device".
The rumour of the dual-recording feature, though, should be taken with a pinch of salt, because Prosser is considered by many as a controversial figure, and some of his claims have been refuted by tech experts in the past.
Apple is likely to unveil all four iPhone 17 variants in September: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Waiting for the actual phones will be a better idea to see whether dual recording will make it to the Pro models alone, or into iPhone 17 and Air too. There is no reason why it can’t!
