Google Pixel 9 Pro has just beaten iPhone 16 Pro and, in an animated video on Instagram, Google trolled its biggest rival Apple. Google Pixel 9 Pro beat fierce competition from iPhone 16 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Vivo X200 Pro and more. So, what caused Google to break out of character to troll Apple, which is something of a rarity? Well, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro was given the 'Smartphone of the Year' award at the Mobile World Congress 2025, which concluded on March 6.
The three-day event in Barcelona, which drew over 100,000 attendees, also presented more than dozens of other awards in mobile tech, device and digital everything categories.
"Google Pixel awarded 'Best Smartphone' at the GLOMO Awards for the second year in a row," Google said as it celebrated the victory in an Instagram video today.
In an animated video, Google Pixel 9 Pro took a playful jab at its rival Apple. As Pixel thanked the audience for its victory, the iPhone was seen accepting an award for "Best Smartphone in Supporting Role." Pixel then quipped, "That's not a category!"
Specs And Features of Google Pixel 9 Pro
Google Pixel 9 Pro was handed the victory based on a set of parameters including design and innovation, performance, usefulness, commercial success and sustainability.
The model has been dubbed by Google as the most powerful Pixel yet, featuring built-in artificial intelligence assistance called Gemini. With a 6.3" display, the Pixel 9 Pro comes in a silky matte glass back and polished-finish metal frame. It also features a dual-finish camera bar.
The model comes with a triple rear camera system for superior camera performance. The unit boasts an ƒ/1.68 aperture and 2x optical zoom for stunning photos. Its Super Actua display runs up to 120 Hz for smooth gaming and scrolling.
On Flipkart, the 256GB storage and 16GB RAM variant of Google Pixel 9 Pro in Porcelain is priced at Rs 1,09,999.
In 2024, the Google Pixel 8 Series won this award.
