The Indian Premier League will resume on May 17, and the remaining league stage matches of the tournament will be played at six venues in the country, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

This comes after IPL was suspended last week, in view of the escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. However, the tensions eased after both the countries agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday.

"After extensive consultations with government and security agencies, and with all the key stakeholders, the Board (BCCI) has decided to proceed with the remainder of the season," a press release stated.

Bengaluru, Jaipur, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Ahmedabad are the six venues were the remaining league stage matches will be played. The venues for the qualifiers, eliminator and final are yet to finalised.

From May 17 onwards, a total of 17 IPL matches will played, culminating into the final of the tournament on June 3, it added. The revised schedule includes two double-headers, which will be played on two Sundays.

Earlier, before the suspension of IPL for a week, the tournament was originally scheduled to conclude on May 25.
