The eight best teams from the 2023 ODI World Cup will feature in the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy. Here's all you need to know:

The ICC Champions Trophy is returning after a long hiatus of eight years. Reigning champions Pakistan are the official hosts of the tournament beginning on Feb. 19. The India team, however, has refused to travel to the country and will play all their matches in Dubai. The eight best teams from the 2023 ODI World Cup will feature in the ninth edition of the Champions Trophy. Here's all you need to know:

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Dates And Time

The league stage will comprise 12 matches, followed by two semi-finals and the final. Pakistan will go head-to-head against New Zealand in the inaugural game in Karachi. The final is slated to take place in Lahore on Mar. 9. It will be shifted to Dubai if India qualifies. All matches will be day-night encounters starting at 2:30 p.m IST. 

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Teams And Format

India and Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside Bangladesh and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Australia, England, South Africa and Afghanistan will compete in Group B. Each team will play three games in the league stage in a single round-robin format. Based on the points, the top two from each group will progress to the semi-finals.

All matches of the multilateral tournament will be hosted across four venues– three in Pakistan and one in the UAE. Let’s take a look at them–

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Reserve Day

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has kept reserve days for the two semi-finals and the final. For the results to be declared via the DLS method in knockout games, the team batting second should play at least 25 overs. The criteria for the group matches is 20 overs.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Prize Money

The eight teams participating in the Champions Trophy 2025 will compete for the grand prize of $2.24 million (USD).

The runners-up will receive $1.12 million, while each losing semi-finalist will take home $560,000. The total prize pool has increased by an impressive 53% from the 2017 edition, reaching $6.9 million, the ICC said in a media release.

At the Champions Trophy 2025, every match will matter as each group stage win is worth over $34,000 for the victorious team. Teams finishing in fifth or sixth place will receive $350,000 each, while the seventh and eighth-placed sides will take home $140,000.

Additionally, all eight teams will receive a guaranteed $125,000 each for participating at the event.
