India's Smriti Mandhana was announced as the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2024 on Monday.
The left-handed opener's ability to produce runs against "high-calibre opposition" makes her stand out against her counterparts, according to the press release by the International Cricket Council.
Mandhana set new personal records in One Day Internationals, amassing 747 runs in 13 innings throughout 2024, her highest total in a year.
This remarkable achievement made her the top run-scorer in world ODIs for the year, surpassing Laura Wolvaardt with 697 runs, Tammy Beaumont scoring 554 runs and Hayley Matthews backing 469 runs.

Mandhana's back-to-back century against South Africa helped them clinch a 3-0 series win in June, while her century highly contributed towards the team's victory against New Zealand in October.
Though India lost the match against Australia in Perth, the century showcased her ability to produce under pressuring situations. She was among the four India batters to reach double figures in the game, with the next highest scorer being just 39.
