India WPI - Wholesale Price Inflation Eases To 10.7% In September: CARE Ratings

CARE Ratings Research Report

In September 2021, wholesale inflation fell to six-month low of 10.7% compared with 11.4% in the previous month and 1.3% in September last year.

The WPI inflation during the month has been lower than our estimate of 11.9%.

The cooling of both wholesale as well as retail inflation is indicative of easing price pressures in the economy though this is driven mainly by primary articles.

Inflation in primary, fuel and power segments have shown signs of moderation, however sticky prices in the manufacturing segment have kept wholesale inflation at elevated level.
