What Drove Earnings?

While Hindalco Industries' US subsidiary Novelis Inc saw the least revenue growth, the company's growth was driven by its India based. Hindalco's aluminium upstream and downstream segment drove the top line growth in Q3FY25 with an annual revenue increase of 25%. Hindalco's copper segment also reported revenue growth of 15% on an annual basis

While Novelis' operating profit did see a fall as earlier before, the aluminium upstream segment saw Ebitda increase 73% on an annual basis, whereas the copper segment saw growth of 18%.

Segment Wise Performance: Aluminium Upstream

The segment's revenue growth was driven by higher aluminium prices seen in the quarter. Despite shipments only rising 1% year on year to 338 kilo tonne, the segment's Ebitda per tonne rose 68% year on year to $1480.

Segment Wise Performance: Aluminium Downstream

The segment's revenue growth was driven by higher volumes, which rose 10% to 99 kilotons on an annual basis. This helped the Ebitda per tonne rise 22% to $179.

Segment Wise Performance: Copper

Revenue growth was driven by higher copper prices, while shipments only rose 1% to 120 kilotons.
