Trump Pulls Out of Wisconsin Rally Opposed by La Crosse Mayor

President Donald Trump has called off plans to hold a rally on Saturday in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and will instead move the event to Janesville in the southern part of the state, according to people familiar with the campaign's decision-making.

The re-election rally at La Crosse's airport had been opposed by officials in the city, as coronavirus cases surge across the Midwest.

Air Force One, the president's plane, is no longer scheduled to visit La Crosse this weekend, according to an email from the office of Mayor Tim Kabat.

In an emailed response to questions, the La Crosse government said it is “assuming” President Donald Trump changed his plan to visit.

Trump won the swing state by a thin margin in 2016, but campaigning there became controversial as Covid-19 began to pound the Midwest last month. Trump has also announced plans to visit Green Bay this weekend.
