Kremlin Expects ‘Lengthy’ Trump-Putin Meeting at G-20 Summit

(Bloomberg) -- The Kremlin expects Vladimir Putin to meet his U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump twice over the next month, with a longer conversation expected at the Group of 20 summit in Buenos Aires, foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov said Friday.

A meeting on the sidelines of the World War I Armistice anniversary in Paris on Nov. 11 may be “brief,” he said. The conversation at the G-20 will be “lengthy and in-depth,” although detailed plans “are still being agreed,” he noted.

Russia has sought further contacts with Trump since the July 16 summit meeting in Helsinki, where the U.S. president's apparent acceptance of Putin's assurances that Russia hadn't meddled in the American elections drew intense criticism in Washington. The administration has invited Putin to the U.S. next year, as well, though no details have been agreed.
