(Bloomberg) -- South African President Jacob Zuma has appointed Ray Zondo as the country's Deputy Chief Justice with immediate effect.
The position became vacant as a result of the retirement of Dikgang Moseneke, the president's office said in an emailed statement on Wednesday.
Prior to being appointed as a judge, Zondo practised for many years as a human rights and labor lawyer and served on the ministerial task team established in 1994 to draft the Labour Relations Bill for post-apartheid South Africa.
