Singapore Sees Biggest Daily Jump in Coronavirus Cases

(Bloomberg) -- Singapore reported its biggest daily jump in new cases of Covid-19 infection with 73 new confirmed cases.

As of 12 p.m. local time on March 25, the health ministry confirmed and verified an additional 38 imported and 35 local cases of the infection, taking the overall total of cases to 631, according to a statement. The imported cases had travel history to Europe, North America, ASEAN and other parts of Asia; all except one were returning residents and Long Term Pass holders.

Three of the confirmed cases are linked to a new cluster at Dover Court International School. All three are staff at the school. A total of 18 are linked to another new cluster at a pre-school facility, with all those cases being either staff or family members.

Separately, the city-state said that from March 27 all travelers arriving in the country will have to submit a health declaration before proceeding with immigration clearance. Travelers will then be notified on the need to comply with a 14-day ‘Stay-Home Notice' on arrival.

Singapore earlier today said the number of coronavirus cases in the city-state “will continue to rise” over the coming weeks, as some overseas citizens return home from around the world.
