Gujarat Public Holidays 2025: Check Full List Of State Holidays
Makar Sankranti is the first public holiday of Gujarat, falling on Tuesday, Jan. 14.

The Gujarat government announced the list of public holidays for 2025 ahead of the onset of the new year. Public holidays vary from state to state, depending on the regional festival and events.
According to the official list, there will be 20 public holidays in Gujarat in 2025, excluding those falling on Saturdays and Sundays.
“The Government of Gujarat is pleased to declare the following days to be Public Holidays for State Government Offices during the year 2025,” the Gujarat government said in a circular.
Gujarat Public Holidays 2025
Makar Sankranti is the first public holiday of Gujarat, falling on Tuesday, Jan. 14. This will be followed by Maha Shivaratri on Feb. 26, Holi on March 14 and Eid Ul Fitr on March 31.
There are five public holidays in October, making it the month with the most number of holidays. These are Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti on Oct. 2, Diwali on Oct. 20, Vikram Samvat on Oct. 22, Bhai Bij on Oct. 23 and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary.
“If any of the Muslim religion Holidays notified above does not fall on the day notified, the Muslim Employees of the Government may be granted an optional holiday on the day on which the holiday is actually observed,” the Gujarat government stated.
The holidays will also be applicable to all State Government Undertakings, Boards, Corporations and Panchayat offices, it added.

Apart from the public holidays mentioned above, there will also be a public holiday for banks on April 1 due to the closing of accounts.
“The Government of Gujarat is also pleased to declare Tuesday, the 1st April, 2025/11 Chaitra, 1947 to be Public Holiday for Banks, Pay & Accounts Office, Treasury / Sub-Treasury Offices only in the State of Gujarat to enable them to close yearly accounts,” it said.
The state government has also declared the list of holidays that are falling on a Saturday or a Sunday.
“The following days have not been notified as General Holidays as they fall on 2nd/4th Saturday or Sunday,” it said.
