Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Friday, revealed that in the past five years, 23,000 kg of synthetic drugs worth over Rs 14,000 crore had been seized and destroyed.

"Drugs are sent from Afghanistan to Sri Lanka, they ask why drugs are being captured in Gujarat ... it should be caught in other states as well. We have pledged that no drugs will be allowed to enter or exit India," he said.

He also linked drug money to terror activities and assured that the government is cracking down on this narco-terror. "No one would be spared," he said.

Shah further told the Parliament's Upper House that drones, satellites, and modern technology are being used to track and destroy illegal opium cultivation.

The minister's remarks came as Parliament resumed on Friday following a day of disruptions. The BJP-led NDA is pushing to pass various demands for Grants 2025-26 in the Lok Sabha.

Shah announced that India is nearing the completion of an indigenous anti-drone system, which is expected within six months.

"We are very close to getting a complete anti-drone solution. We have had six experiments, I am hopeful within six months we will have an indigenous anti-drone solution, a symbol of Make in India," he said.

The minister asserted that the government has zero tolerance policy towards left-wing terrorism as well, and that Naxalism will end in India by March 2026.

Shah also highlighted the growing challenges of cybercrime, narcotics, and organised crime, which often transcend state and national boundaries. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for implementing long-pending reforms that have bolstered national security.
