The US stock market rallied on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average surging more than 400 points as strong corporate earnings, a pullback in crude oil prices and a rebound in artificial intelligence-linked stocks helped lift investor sentiment.
The Dow gained around 0.9%, while the S&P 500 rose 0.3% and the Nasdaq Composite traded 0.1% higher. At one point, the Dow was up more than 500 points, reflecting renewed buying interest in blue-chip stocks.
The gains came as investors weighed encouraging earnings reports against concerns about the sustainability of the AI-driven rally and developments in the Middle East.

Here are three key reasons behind the market's gains.
1. Strong Earnings Scorecard
Better-than-expected corporate results provided an immediate boost to the Dow, with industrial and defence stocks leading the advance.
Shares of 3M, the industrial and safety products maker, jumped more than 5% after the company reported earnings above market expectations and raised its full-year guidance.
Northrop Grumman also supported the rally, with shares of the aerospace and defence company climbing around 6% after it reported better-than-expected earnings.
The results reinforced investor confidence in companies delivering solid financial performance, helping offset concerns about elevated valuations and uncertainty surrounding the technology sector.
2. Reprieve In Crude Oil Prices
A retreat in oil prices offered another source of relief for investors, particularly as markets continued to monitor developments in the Middle East.
US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell less than 1% to around $103 per barrel, while Brent crude declined more than 1% to approximately $107 a barrel.
Lower crude prices can ease concerns about inflation and the potential impact of higher energy costs on corporate margins and consumer spending. The decline in oil prices also coincided with a fall in US Treasury yields, adding to the improvement in market sentiment.
However, with geopolitical developments continuing to influence energy markets, investors remained alert to the possibility of renewed volatility in crude prices.
3. AI Chip Trade Rebounds
Technology stocks also recovered some ground after recent selling pressure triggered by concerns about the scale of borrowing and spending required to build AI infrastructure.

The sector faced fresh pressure earlier in the session after South Korean AI company Elice plunged more than 30% in its public market debut, contributing to weakness in Asian technology stocks.
On Wall Street, however, several semiconductor and AI-linked stocks moved higher as the session progressed. Micron Technology, Intel and Sandisk gained around 1%, while Seagate Technology advanced about 2% and Advanced Micro Devices rose more than 1%.
The VanEck Semiconductor ETF also added nearly 1%, while AI infrastructure company CoreWeave climbed more than 2%.
The recovery followed a rebound in US technology stocks on Monday, when the Nasdaq Composite rose more than 1%. Nvidia gained 1.4%, Tesla jumped 3.8% and Alphabet advanced around 1%.
