Most share indices in Asia-Pacific markets were trading lower Monday, tracking Friday's losses on Wall Street after technology companies' stocks declined.
The Nikkei 225 and S&P ASX 200 were trading 0.71% and 0.51% down, respectively. The Kospi was 0.92% higher as of 7:14 a.m.
On Friday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 were 0.77% and 1.11% down, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite was 1.49% down.
Brent was 0.01% higher at $74.18 a barrel as of 7:05 a.m. The Bloomberg spot gold was 0.17% higher at $2,625.96 an ounce.
The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.03% or 7 points higher at 23,978.00 as of 7:02 a.m.
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex ended Friday's session higher recouping weekly losses. The Nifty 50 ended with gains for second day in a row. The benchmark indices recouped weekly losses. The Nifty 50 ended 63.20 points or 0.27% higher at 23,813.40, and the Sensex ended 226.59 points or 0.29% higher at 78,699.07.
Overseas investors stayed net sellers for the ninth consecutive session and offloaded stocks worth Rs 1,323.29 crore on Friday, while domestic institutional investors stayed net buyers for the eighth straight session and bought stocks worth approximately Rs 2,544.64 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
The Indian rupee weakened sharply on Friday, hitting a fresh record closing low of 85.54 against the US dollar.

Hero MotoCorp: The company extended its partnership with Harley-Davidson Motor to expand the Harley-Davidson X440 into new variants and to develop a new motorcycle.
JSW Energy: The company’s arm JSW Neo Energy acquired a 4,696 MW renewable energy platform from O2 Power Midco Holdings and O2 Energy SG for Rs 12,468 crore.
Max Financial: Axis Max Life decided to discontinue the operations of Max Life PFM as a pension fund manager. The decision is taken by Axis Bank, as the bank is already an established pension fund manager.
SJVN: The company appointed Sanjay Kumar as chief financial officer effective Jan. 1.
CAMS: Pullakurthi Srinivasa Reddy resigns as CTO.
Reliance Infrastructure: Axis Bank and IDFC First Bank invoke arm's right of substitution for Maharashtra Road project.
IOL Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals: The board approved the subdivision of each share into five.
Prestige Estates: The company signed a business transfer agreement to transfer the hospitality undertaking to its arm, Prestige Hospitality Ventures, for Rs 313 crore.
Utkarsh small finance Bank: The bank approved the sale of NPA and written-off loans worth Rs 355 crore at a reserve price of Rs 52 crore to the asset reconstruction company.
NAVA: The board has fixed Jan. 20 as record date for stock split.
Zydus Lifesciences: The company and Sterling Biotech have mutually agreed to extend the deadline for the purchase of the API business of Sterling Biotech from December to March next year.
Newgen Software Technologies: The company executed an agreement with Aye Finance for a loan origination solution for Rs 24 crore.
Zota Healthcare: The company received product registration licenses for Zotamet-1000 (antidiabetic) and CDTEL-40 in Kyrgyzstan.
Ola Electric: Anshul Khandelwal resigned from the post of chief marketing officer and Suvonil Chatterjee resigned from the post of chief technology and product officer.
Nazara Technology: The company has completed investment of Rs 63.9 crore into Nodwin by way of subscription of 3,454 optionally convertible preference shares.
Deep Industries: The company will raise Rs 350 crore through issuance of equity shares via qualified institutional placement.
Vodafone Idea: The Department of Telecommunications has waived the requirement for telecom operators to provide Financial Bank Guarantees for spectrum purchased in auctions. This waiver is subject to specific terms and conditions.
Mahindra and Mahindra: The arm incorporated Ultrogen Hybren as wholly owned subsidiary. Ultrogen Hybren to carry out Rooftop Solar Installation business.
IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company: The company received project worth Rs 302.82 crore from Ceigall India for Bhubaneswar Metro Phase-I
Sai Silks (Kalamandir): The company opened its 66th store at Adyar, Chennai, Tamilnadu on Dec. 29.
Alkyl Amines Chemicals: The company informed that a residue tank in Derivatives plant ruptured resulting in serious burn injuries to the attending officer. There could be a temporary disruption in the operations of the affected plant. The company is assessing the damage and will file an insurance claim, with assets adequately insured.
Gujarat Fluorochemicals: The company reported an incident at its CMS-1 plant where four individuals were affected and could not be saved. The operations of the said plant were temporarily disrupted. The assets of the company are adequately covered under the Insurance Policy.
Greenply Industries: The company's arm has resumed manufacturing operations at MDF Plant in Gujarat.
Bikaji Foods International: The MCA has approved incorporation of Bikaji Bakes Pvt., as an arm of the company.
Suprajit Engineering: The company has incorporated Suprajit Chuhatsu Control Systems, a subsidiary of the company for the business of manufacturing and trading of control cables, transmission cables, and associated mechanisms, for automotive industry in India and export markets.
Sula Vineyards: The company has received a tax order of Rs 4.01 crore from Office of the commissioner of CGST and Central Excise, Nashik. The order alleges that the GST on restaurant services should by 18% instead of 5% tax paid. It imposes an additional tax liability of 13%. The company however, does not agree with the order and will file an appeal against it.
Shakti Pumps: The company will consider raising funds through QIP on Jan. 7.
Aerpace Industries: The renewable energy initiative of the company has received an order worth Rs 97.5 crore for supply of tech smart solar panels.
Algoquant Fintech: The company has fixed Jan. 8 as the record date to issue bonus shares.
Adani Green Energy: The company has incorporated an wholly-owned subsidiary named Adani Green Energy Sixty Eight Ltd. Reliance Industries: The company's arm Reliance Strategic Business has acquired shares worth Rs 10 crore in Karinos Health. In addition, the company also acquired optionally fully convertibel debentures worth Rs 365 crore in Karkinos Health.
Coforge: The company has signed a merger pact with Cigniti Tech.
Reliance Power: The company's unit will avail the rupee term loan facility to the extent of Rs 3,760 crore in one or more tranches, from Power Finance Corporation Ltd.
Zydus Wellness: The company's arm Zydus Wellness Products has received GST demand worth Rs 56.33 crore from Surat GST authority.
Mahindra & Mahindra: In an inspection by Chennai Tax authority, the GST officials gave some observations on certain compliance issues and have advised the company to submit necessary documents for reconciliation.

Senores Pharmaceuticals: The company's shares will debut on the stock exchange on Monday at an issue price of Rs 391. The Rs 582.11-crore IPO was subscribed 93.41 times on the final day. Money Market
The Indian rupee weakened sharply on Friday, hitting a fresh record closing low of 85.54 against the US dollar. This marked its steepest single-day decline since February 2023.
The domestic currency, during the trading session, had depreciated 53 paise to hit its lowest ever value of 85.81. It had opened at 85.32 per dollar and had closed at 85.26 on Thursday.
