UltraTech Cement Ltd., JSW Steel Ltd., ITC Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., and Grasim Industries Ltd. were among the biggest laggards.
Jio Financial's share price closed at 3.87% higher at Rs 292.65 apiece, followed by IndusInd Bank, which closed 2.61% higher at Rs 821 apiece. Shares for Trent also gained for the second consecutive day as the stock closed 0.8% higher at Rs 5,570 apiece.
UltraTech Cement emerged as the biggest loser, slumping 2.28% and closing in the red at Rs 11,422 apiece. ITC was also among the worst performers and closed 1.85% down at Rs 433.9 apiece.
JSW Steel share price closed at 1.8% lower at Rs 1,013.7 apiece, followed by Tata Motors, which closed 1.65% lower at Rs 716.45 apiece.
The benchmark equity indices closed lower on Tuesday, reversing its two-day gains amid volatility in domestic markets.
The NSE Nifty 50 closed 174.95 points or 0.7% lower at 24,826.20 and the BSE Sensex ended 624.82 points or 0.76% down at 81,551.63. During the day, the Nifty fell 1.19% to 24,704.10, while the Sensex dropped 1.28% to 81,121.70
