NYSE and Nasdaq will observe Good Friday as a holiday and will reopen on Monday, April 21.

Trading activities in the US stock market, including the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq, will remain suspended on April 18, Good Friday. The day, meant to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, is one of the most important religious days for Christians.
Good Friday is not a federal holiday in the United States, which means that government offices, schools, and other services mostly remain open. However, some states like Texas recognise the day as a state holiday.
NYSE and Nasdaq will observe Good Friday as a holiday. It’s one of the few religious holidays they observe, which is rare for a non-federal holiday. The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will reopen on Monday, April 21.
The next scheduled stock market holiday is on Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Why Is Good Friday Celebrated?
Christians believe this week to be the Holy Week. It starts with Palm Sunday, when Jesus entered Jerusalem. It is the Sunday before Easter. The week leads into the Paschal Triduum, a sacred three-day period. During the week, Holy Thursday remembers the Last Supper of Jesus. Then, Good Friday marks Jesus’ crucifixion, and Holy Saturday marks the Easter Vigil, celebrating His resurrection. The following day is Easter Sunday when Christians pray and gather to remember Jesus’ sacrifice and teachings.
