Tata Motors CV has sharpened its push into clean mobility by placing electric trucks at the centre of its latest expansion, unveiling what it calls the largest electric truck portfolio in the 6–15 tonne segment even as demand for conventional CVs remains strong. The company rolled out 16 new models across four categories, but the spotlight was firmly on its electric lineup.
Tata Motors CV launched five electric truck models — Ultra E.7, Ultra E.9, Ultra E.12, E.28K and E.55S — covering a wide range of applications from urban and last-mile logistics to mid-haul cargo and construction use cases. The new launches significantly broaden Tata Motors' electric CV footprint at a time when fleet operators are increasingly evaluating lower operating costs and emissions compliance.
With these introductions, Tata Motors CV now offers the most extensive electric truck range between 6 and 15 tonnes in India. The company also confirmed that it is preparing to launch another electric truck under its newly introduced Tata Azura range, signalling that electrification will remain a key pillar of its future product roadmap.
Alongside the EV push, Tata Motors CV also introduced four internal combustion engine trucks — the Prima 3540.K tipper, Prima 5532, Signa 5532.5, and Ultra T.19. Three of these fall under the intermediate and light commercial vehicle category and are built on an all-new platform designed to improve performance, efficiency and total cost of ownership.
The expansion also carries manufacturing significance. In a boost to Jharkhand's industrial footprint, Tata Motors CV confirmed that 10 of the newly launched trucks are being manufactured at its Jamshedpur facility, with production set to continue at the plant.
The aggressive product push comes amid strong sales momentum. Tata Motors reported commercial vehicle sales of 42,508 units in December 2025, a 25% year-on-year jump from 33,875 units sold in December 2024. This followed a robust November, when sales rose 29% year-on-year to 35,539 units. December volumes were also up nearly 20% sequentially over November.
For the third quarter of FY26, the company sold 1,15,577 CV units, marking a 21% increase over the year-ago period and a 22% sequential rise over the previous quarter. Heavy commercial vehicles led the charge, with December HCV truck sales climbing 31% year-on-year to 12,483 units, reflecting sustained demand from infrastructure and logistics sectors.
