Trump Says North Korean Official to Deliver Kim Letter Friday

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump said a North Korean delegation will “probably” come to Washington on Friday and deliver him a letter from Kim Jong Un as a historic summit between the two nations takes shape.

“I look forward to seeing what's in the letter,” Trump told reporters Thursday. “It's very important to them.”

Trump added that he hopes the planned summit with Kim will take place June 12 and that it would likely take two or three meetings to reach a deal. Trump spoke as Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korea's Kim Yong Chul began a day of meetings in New York.

“Hopefully we'll have a meeting on the 12th. It's going along very well,” Trump said. “But I want it to be meaningful. Doesn't mean it gets all done in one meeting. Maybe we have to have a second meeting, maybe we'll have none. But, it's in good hands, that I can tell you."
