Catch all live updates of the special parliament session here.

‘The Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty-Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2023’ passed in Lok Sabha with 454 members voting in favour and two against, announced Speaker Om Birla.

Lok Sabha adjourned till 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The House will then discuss the Chandrayaan 3 success and India's science leap.

Lok Sabha MPs are voting on clauses of the bill on demand of an Opposition MP.

Rajya Sabha adjourned till 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.

Immediately after the election, the census and delimitation will be conducted and the day will soon come that women will find their representation in this parliament.
Amit Shah

Speaking on the delimitation commission, Amit Shah said such a panel would include a retired Supreme Court judge, senior Election Commission officials and other members of constitutional bodies along with representatives of political parties. He said the commission should be apolitical.

"If the government conducts the delimitation exercise, the opposition will say we are being political. It is therefore important that the delimitation is conducted under the quasi-judicial framework so that it is transparent," Amit Shah said.

"There are only three categories for political representation as of now. The open category, which includes OBCs, and SC and ST. This bill gives women reservation in all three categories," Amit Shah said.

"We have brought this bill to amend the faults in our society and give power and respect to women," Amit Shah said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has started his address in Lok Sabha on the Women's Reservation Bill.

"Delimitation and census not required, the bill should be immediately implemented. This bill can be implemented today. I wonder if this bill is designed to push the ball further seven-eight years," Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha.

"I would like to have seen OBC reservation included in this bill. It is important that a large chunk of India's women should have access to this reservation," Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha.

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in Lok Sabha said he supports the Women’s Reservation Bill.

"A huge step forward for the transfer of power to women in India was Panchayati Raj when women were given reservation and allowed to enter politics at scale. On this (Women’s Reservation Bill) everyone agrees it is a very important step."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will speak on the Women’s Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha shortly.

AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi demanded a quota for OBCs and religious minorities in the Women's Reservation Bill, while opposing the bill in its current form.

"This selective affirmative action is an election stunt. The PM says he is looking after OBCs but there is only 120 OBC MPs. This is a distraction bill and not an inclusive bill," he said.

Supriya Sule Demands A Debate In Parliament On India Canada Row

"There are a few points that I would like to raise or seek clarification from the government. I think since this is a Special Session, I request the government to debate a few topics that are equally relevant, including the Canadian issue," said NCP MP Supriya Sule in Lok Sabha.

"Congress demands a caste census immediately", says Sonia Gandhi, chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party.

Sonia Gandhi extended her party's support for the women's reservation bill and demanded its immediate implementation along with the provision for the representation of SCs, STs and OBCs.

"I stand here in support of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam". She said any delay in implementing women's reservation bill will be injustice to Indian women.
