An Air Force microlight aircraft crashed into a pond located behind KP College in central Prayagraj on Wednesday. The crash prompted immediate alarm among locals, who quickly informed the police and district administration.

Emergency response teams, including fire brigade units and rescue personnel, reached the spot soon after receiving the alert. Authorities cordoned off the entire area as a precaution while rescue operations were initiated.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft, a two‑seater Air Force microlight, took off from Bamrauli Airport, which serves as the headquarters of the Central Air Command. The aircraft reportedly suffered an engine failure mid‑air.

Eyewitnesses stated that it circled unusually low for some time before losing control and plunging into the pond.

Officials confirmed that two crew members were on board during the training sortie. Both have been rescued safely, according to the Army's initial statement. The exact cause of the malfunction is yet to be determined, though technical failure is suspected.

The crash site is located roughly 10 kilometers from Bamrauli Airport. An official inquiry has been ordered to investigate the circumstances leading to the accident. Meanwhile, the Indian Air Force has not yet released a formal statement regarding the incident.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
