The second CBSE exams will begin on May 15, 2026.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the timeline for the upcoming second board examinations for the Secondary School Examination 2026, with tests commencing on May 15, 2026. The last exam will be conducted on May 21, 2026.

Who is eligible for the second board exam?

Students eligible to appear for the CBSE Second Board Examination include those who appeared in at least three subjects in the first examination, Class 10 pass-outs seeking to improve performance, students placed in the compartment category, and those who passed by replacing a subject with a sixth subject.

The list also covers students under the UFM category 1, if otherwise eligible, candidates from the 2025 compartment category, students opting for improvement in up to three main subjects, students appearing for the first, third or compartment-plus-improvement chance, and sports quota students permitted by the CBSE.

Which Studentsare not eligible?

Students who failed or did not appear in three or more subjects are not eligible for the second board examination. Students placed under the ER category are also excluded, as they become eligible only next year.

Timetable overview

The examination commences with Mathematics Standard and Mathematics Basic on May 15, during the 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM timeframe. English Communicative and English Language and Literature are set for May 16 in the same session, followed by science on May 18. Social science, a key subject, is slated for May 21.

The timetable released from Dwarka, New Delhi, includes subject-specific schedules for core, language, elective, and skill papers for Class 10 students taking part in the second examination session.
