The country's largest consumer goods manufacturer, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. received a notice today from the government's anti-profiteering body, Directorate General of Safeguards.

HUL is in the process of ascertaining full details of this notice and will “respond to the same stating our position”, the company told BloombergQuint in an emailed statement.

The GST anti-profiteering body had earlier also sent notices to Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd., Lifestyle International Pvt Ltd., a Honda dealer and a Jaipur-based dealer of HUL, BloombergQuint had reported.

In its statement, the consumer goods major today said it is fully committed towards ensuring all benefits arising from the reduction in GST rates are fully passed on to the consumers. The company has asked traders to pass on the benefits to consumers, HUL added.
