Supriya Sule from the NCP (Sharad Pawar) is leading in the much-talked-about Lok Sabha constituency of Baramati in Maharashtra by 1.58 lakh votes, according to data from the Election Commission of India as of 11:45 p.m.
Sule got approximately 7.32 lakh votes so far, while Sunetra Pawar received 5.74 lakh votes, according to the data.
Sharad Pawar and his family have long dominated the Baramati seat in Maharashtra. It is now a battleground for his daughter Supriya Sule, who stood against her sister-in-law Sunetra Pawar, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, for the seat. The stronghold faces unprecedented turmoil as Ajit Pawar aligns with the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party coalition, defying familial ties.
Indapur, Baramati, Purandar, Bhor, Khadakwasla, and Daund are the six Vidhan Sabha seats in the Baramati constituency. During the third phase of elections on May 7, it saw a total voter turnout of 59.50%, with 62.35% male voters and 56.36% female voters.
In the past three elections, NCP's Supriya Sule has solidified the Pawar family's hold on the Baramati seat. In 2019, she secured 6,86,714 votes, defeating the BJP's Kanchan Rahul Kul. Despite the Modi wave in 2014, Sule maintained her position, winning 5,21,562 votes.
