Customers of India's largest private sector lender, HDFC Bank Ltd., are set to face major downtime on services on July 13, the bank said in a statement. The system downtime will continue for over 13 hours on the day, it said.

This comes as HDFC Bank shifts its core banking system to a newly engineered platform.

Customers will not be able to avail certain services and will see intermittent outages for other services between 3 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the day, according to the statement.

"With this upgrade, HDFC Bank will be one of the largest banks of its size and banking volume in the country to host its Core Banking System on a new-gen platform," the lender said.

It has chosen the second Saturday of the month to minimise customer issues and has advised its customers to plan their banking needs in advance.

Among services which will not be available to customers through the entire downtime are:

  • Net banking and mobile banking.

  • Immediate payment services.

  • National Electronic Fund Transfer.

  • Real-Time Gross Settlement.

  • Branch transfer.

  • HDFC Bank account-to-account transfer.

  • Credit card repayment through UPI or net banking.

  • Loading prepaid cards through UPI or net banking.

Customers can intermittently use UPI payments through the day. HDFC Bank will allow debit card payments within restricted limits, while credit cards can be used to make payments through the day.
