India's daily Covid-19 infection rate remained above the 40,000-mark, as the threat of a projected third wave looms over the country.
40,120 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry's Aug. 13 update. Around 42,000 patients recovered during the same period, taking the nation's active case load marginally lower to 3.85 lakh.
Active cases constitute 1.20% of India's total Covid tally, the lowest since March 2020. The current recovery rate of 97.46% is the highest ever, the Health Ministry added.
