India reported a rise in new Covid-infections and deaths for the second day in a row.
Nearly 36,401 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 3.23 crore in the world's second-most populous nation, according to the Health Ministry's Aug. 19 update.
530 patients succumbed to the deadly pathogen in the same period, taking India's total death toll to 4.33 lakh.
Daily recoveries continued to eclipse new cases taking the active case load to 3.64 lakh. They now constitute 1.13% of total cases, which is the lowest since March 2020.
