Transport for London May Deny Uber Permit for U.K. Capital: Sky

(Bloomberg) -- Uber Technologies could be about to lose the right to operate in London.

Transport for London, the transit authority for the U.K. capital, is considering a ban for the ride-sharing company, Sky News reports, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation.

Fresh concerns raised about the ride-sharing company's ability to identify drivers have lead the transport authority to consider rejecting Uber's permit to operate in the city, Sky says.

Uber could still secure another short-term extension, people familiar told Sky, but TfL was “actively considering” a ban for the ride hailing app.

Bloomberg has previously reported that TfL's decision could come as early as Monday after the regulator concluded in 2017 that Uber wasn't “fit and proper” to hold a license.

A spokeswoman for Uber declined to comment to Sky. TfL told Sky in a statement that it is considering Uber's application and “no decision has been made.”
