Through the years: Big ticket RIL announcements at AGM

Here's a list of announcements at Reliance Industries' annual general meetings through the years:

2012 (expected): Big investment in 4G

2011: To address production issues at its key gas block in India. This came at a time that investors had started to worry about production at the D6 block. However, output has continued to fall, something that RIL says is because of unexpected natural features.

2010: Unveiled big push into power sector, but this is also something that hasn't been heard of much. Part of the delay could also be because of the general uncertainty over coal supplies as well the problems involved in setting up greenfield projects.

2009: Successful commissioning of RPL refinery. The refining business is RIL's bread and butter, so to speak, and Mukesh Ambani has successfully built Jamnagar into one of the world's largest and most modern refineries, with a capability to process much more sour crude than many others.

2008: None. There were no big-ticket announcements this year. The subprime mortgage crisis in the US had already begun to take hold, and the big crash came a few months later.

2007: Announced the development of the Reliance Haryana special economic zone for which it acquired 8,300 acres of land. However, there have not been too many announcement s about what is happening there since.

2006: Expansion into Reliance Retail. This was a big announcement but the business has not done as well as investors had hoped, despite a large infusion of capital.

2005: Life Sciences is be the next major initiative.  This is also something that investors have not heard much about since then.
