India’s vehicle makers are set to report the monthly data on how many vehicles they sold in September.

This may be the month where the industry finally sees sales rise from the lowest more than two decades, spurred by heavy discounting and a boost in sentiment from the Finance ministry’s surprise cut in corporate tax rates.

A BloombergQuint Survey of auto dealers showed that sales of cars and two wheelers rose marginally last month.

Heavy Discounting

Automakers, including Maruti Suzuki (India) Ltd., announced discounts ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 1 lakh on some of its cars, nearly a week after the government reduced corporate tax rates to spur economic growth from a six-year low.
