Rolls-Royce Wraith launched at Rs 4.6 crore
New Delhi:

Ultra luxury car maker Rolls-Royce today launched its Wraith model at a price starting at Rs 4.6 crore in India, as part of its expansion plans in the country.

The Wraith is powered by a 6.6-litre, twin-turbo V-12 engine that can churn out 632.5PS of power and an impressive 800Nm of torque, that will allow it to touch the 100 kmph mark from standstill in 4.4 seconds.

The company, which currently sells the Phantom and Ghost models in the country, is also looking to expand its dealerships here.

"We believe there is immense potential in the India market. In 2005 we started with one dealership. To cater to different regions, we will be opening two more dealerships this year, taking the total number to five," Rolls Royce general manager-Emerging Markets Asia, Herfried Hasenoehrl, said.

The two new dealerships would come up at Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, he added.

The company, which sold 3,542 cars globally last year, has dealerships currently at Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. When asked about the company's growth plans in India, Hasenoehrl said that in order to reach out to more customers, Rolls-Royce might open two more dealerships in the country next year.

"India is still a strong market for us, the biggest in emerging markets. We are optimistic about the growth prospects of this region and Wraith will contribute to it very, very nicely," Hasenoehrl said.

In order to promote the new model, the company also plans to take the car to various cities in the country.
"During this three-month tour, the new product would be taken to different locations across the country and shown to people," Haseanoehrl said.

The Wraith nameplate revives the car that the company built in the late 1930s.

It is being billed as the fastest Rolls-Royce ever, according to an official statement. In fact, this will be the most powerful Rolls-Royce to have played host to the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine, the statement adds.
