(Bloomberg) -- Mumias Sugar Co., a Kenyan producer of the sweetener, named Patrick Chebosi as acting Chief Executive Officer after suspending Nashon Aseka from the position.
“The reason for the suspension was that some doubtful transactions appear to have been entered into without following due process and requisite approval,” Chairman Kennedy Ngumbau said in an emailed statement on Thursday. “The suspension is meant to pave the way for further investigations.”
Aseka was verbally informed about his suspension on Tuesday and hasn't been informed about the matters under investigation, he said by phone.
“On the strength of the verbal communication, I stayed away from the office,” Aseka said. “I'll follow up further.”
