In the October - December quarter, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. added a net 28,238 employees, its highest ever in a quarter it said. Taking its total workforce to 5,56,986 employees. Infosys Ltd. added 12,450 employees raising the total to 2,92,067. At Wipro Ltd., the total headcount stands at 2,31,671 with just over 10,000 added in Q3.

The quarter also saw TCS attrition rise to 15.3% from 11.9% in Q2. But, that's lower than the 25.5% at Infosys (20.1% in Q2) and 22.7% at Wipro (20.5% in Q2).

In its earnings statement, the country's largest IT services company said it saw signs of attrition bottoming out. It also said the second half hiring target of 34,000 freshers had been consumed in Q3 itself and the company intends to continue hiring in the fourth quarter. In the first half of the fiscal year TCS hired 43,000 freshers. At this pace, the Tata company's gross hires for FY22 may come close to or exceed one lakh this year.

At Infosys, the global graduate hiring program has been expanded to 55,000 for FY22, as per its Q3 earnings statement. Wipro has so far hired 17,500 freshers in FY22 and intends to double that next fiscal, the company spokesperson said.

TCS now has over 2 lakh women in employment. That's 36% of its total workforce, similar to the 36.3% at Wipro and a tad less than the 39.6% at Infosys.
