India's resilience in the face of major challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing geopolitical tensions has been a testament to its strength, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said at the NDTV Indian Of the Year event. Looking ahead, India shall become the world's third-largest economy within the next three years, he added.

"We shall be the third largest economy in the next three years," Goyal said at the NDTV Indian Of the Year event. He further said that the world is seeing the India story unfold, and it's a privilege to be a part of it.

Goyal noted that everyone has a role to play in this journey. Whether directly or indirectly, every Indian can contribute to the nation's progress by embracing "Vocal for Local.".

The minister also pointed out that there is a need to empower the youth and the young entrepreneurs so that they can improve the speed of India's development.

He emphasised that the nation owes its progress to the visionaries who contributed to the idea of India—farmers, artisans, teachers, entrepreneurs, government servants, media professionals, and every citizen.

Goyal further lauded the remarkable performance of India's 2024 Paralympic Team, who won the 'Sports Performance Of The Year.' "We feel proud of the achievements of Paralympians," said the Union Minister. He also said that they have elevated India's international standing.

According to Goyal, the growing recognition of sports in the country came after initiatives like "Khelo India," and this "rapidly developing" sports culture will take India to greater laurels.

As the government builds new sports facilities, it is also investing in the future of its young population. These initiatives not only foster athletic talent but also provide a platform for young Indians to shine on the global stage, he said.
